Pictures have common subject: Venetian carnival. Bright and luxurious images of this annual theatrical event in Venice are so appealing, that one wishes to prolong their mysterious glimmering beauty. Three pictures are pastel paintings on colorful paper, two pictures are acrylic paintings on the canvas. Choice of materials is not random. Pastel, due to its properties: transparency and velvetiness, is the best for rendering of ephemerality of Venetian heavenly characters. Matt and nacreous acrylic as well as their interaction on the canvas create feeling of fabulousness and illusory nature of the masques and fancy dresses.
There is furniture with paintings in the virtual space of the gallery. It is traditional furniture of the 70th of the Soviet period: two big wardrobes (made in Ukraine, Brovary city) and two cabinets (made in Hungary, Budapest) covered with geometric painting. Similar furniture was made for mass customers, it had minimum decorations, but nowadays it is an ideal workpiece for creative search and experiments of the artist. On the pages of the gallery you will find one of the results of the creative experiment with furniture of the Soviet period, so to say: new perception of the old furniture or combined vintage. This vintage furniture combines objects of interior of the 70th of the XX century and painting of the beginning of the XXI century.
Fittings of four pieces of furniture were replaced, and the painting was made on the facade and the sides of the furniture. Sides of the big wardrobes were preliminary painted with gray domestic paint, and on polished facades domestic paint was used only under painting, leaving the polished surface untouched. Painting is made with nacreous acrylic paint, applied by means of palette knife on the surface covered with domestic paint. Dense acrylic paint was applied by means of palette knife, in some parts of the painting with chaotic strokes, in other with ordered ones, their combination formed picture of the ornamental painting. Dry strokes retained set form and small volume in such a way so that facade and sides of the furniture have interlaced smooth and relief surfaces, covered with painting.
Light elements of painting and dark background of furniture facade create specific rhythmical play of light and dark. As a result of play of visual illusions big wardrobes look more subtle and light, and small cabinets become more refined. Now each piece of furniture has three attractive sides decorated with laced painting. Each of them is a self-sufficient piece and is perceived well both in collection and during independent exposition. Wardrobes and cabinets, can be used for example for storage of the collection of dolls or Venetian masques and costumes.
Combination of pictures and vintage furniture in the gallery creates harmonious-integral atmosphere.
